Break Those Unhappy Habits

Spring is finally here! The trees are blooming, the tulips are colourful, the birds are humming and I’m constantly sneezing.

Hay fever isn’t something that I look forward to round about now. The worst thing about it is finding myself repeating a habit I’ve got into since it became a regular visitor – expecting hay fever to be a deal-breaker for all the summer fun ahead.

So I’ve prepared for the worst:
Allergy tablets. Check.
Unlimited supply of tissue packs in my bag. Check.
Vaseline. Check.

I’m ready for the fun and games. Yet, there’s this desperate itchy thought, scratching at the back of my head that I might as well just stay indoors to save myself the hassle. I’ve even acted on this thought and it bugs me like a rash.

Why do I choose to make myself unhappy? Am I really going to let this be the end of my summer?

Pondering over. The answer is a loud and clear ‘NO WAY’. Because I know that what really makes me miserable isn’t outside of me (nope the high pollen count isn’t to blame here), but the habits I’ve built over the years to deal with this unwanted visitor.

In life and in the workplace, we are little more than the sum of our habits. Who we are and what we accomplish depends essentially on the enormous network of habits and behaviours that we carry out with little to no thought whatsoever. You see, our brains are in the business of gathering information and steering behaviour appropriately. It doesn’t matter whether consciousness is involved in the decision-making. And most of the time, it’s not.

So what if most of our habits have now just become a part of our subconscious and are running us? Are they helpful or unhelpful habits?

In this episode of Preet TV – Break Those Unhappy Habits – I’m going to share with you some of the common habits that we may have instilled in ourselves and how these could actually be doing us huge disservice, in turn making us pretty unhappy.

Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely confused .. Any recommendations? Thanks!
